Windchild 04:23
windchild you're swaying with the wind, child your laughter and your sad eyes haunt me in my dreams fireflies the fire burns and lights the night I wish the dawn won't arrive to steal you from my side she makes shells and crystal towers she collects the moonlit flowers she may dance wherever rain falls out of reach for the world and she waits for the time when winter dies in the summer light golden rain from silver clouds falls and marks the day of changing fate
5.
spring rain on a desert flower and an ocean of sand two weeks on the dusty road with the sun overhead I don't know how it began but I guess I know how it ends starshine, I'm feeling fine and the rain clouds have gone two months on a dusty path with the moon looking on I don't know how it began but I guess I know how it ends maybe I'll fit here maybe I'll stay a while birdsong in my ear calling me into the wild sunlight, the day grows bright and the path leads me on two years with a tired mind and the trace of a song I don't know how it began but I guess I know how it ends maybe I'll fit here maybe I'll stay awhile birdsong in my ear leading me into the wild maybe I'll stay here maybe I'll sing a while cross the ruined land where the ocean ends keep on singing keep your innocence cross the ruined land the secret in your hands keep on pushing keep your innocence
6.
rain falls on but it will be gone by the sunrise a new day comes and she will be gone by the sunrise wait for me by the sea the river flows on and still she belongs to the sunrise I picked up another one found it out of sight picked it up and now it's gone pleased to hear you're fine the sunlight on the Citadel the moonlight in her eyes starlight on the mountainside hidden in her mind rain falls on but it will be gone by the sunrise a new day comes and she will be gone by the sunrise wait for me by the sea the river flows on but still she belongs to the sunrise

watching through the eyes of another one waiting for the sun watching through the mind of another one waiting for the gun I've been around here far too long the world is turning and I'll be gone a new beginning and end to come look up and see the sprawling skies there waits another way to die another gateway in the dark a ship is sailing to the stars

about

The songs on "Buru Haze" were written soon after the release of "From The City To The Stars" in 2014 (with the exception of "Windchild" which was written in 2009 and pre-dates Kanoi by a year) and recorded between January and April 2015 at my home studio.

They feature a more relaxed and spaced-out sound inspired by "Meddle" to "Obscured By Clouds"-era Pink Floyd and my interest in science-fiction literature old and new which I guess becomes especially apparent on the 14-minute closing track "A New Beginning And The Sprawling Sky", a song inspired by Ann Leckie's book "Ancillary Justice"!

To preserve dynamics this record is intentionally quieter than some. For full enjoyment simply turn up the volume!

Music and lyrics by Benjamin Kantschieder

Performed and produced by Benjamin Kantschieder at The Quarry between January and April 2015 except for parts of "A New Beginning And The Sprawling Sky" which were recorded live in Arnbach by Michael Pranter with Markus Huber playing drums and Stephan Pranter playing bass

Artwork and design by Benjamin Kantschieder

Special thanks to Patrick Mühlburger for "lending" me a bass when I started this project in 2010 and didn't have the money to buy my own!
It has been featured on every single Kanoi recording since then!
